Family medical residents' life

Life beyond Residency

The Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center Family Medicine Residency program extends far beyond education and work. We have created an environment of camaraderie and celebration filled with social and recreational activities that give our residents downtime while providing opportunities to build long-lasting relationships.

Whether we're celebrating milestones, exploring local restaurants, attending community events or enjoying the outdoors, our residents have created a culture that values friendship, support and wellness.

Community

One of the things our residents value most is the strong sense of community within our program. Residents from all classes spend time together outside of work through cookouts, holiday gatherings, sporting events, game nights and informal get-togethers.

Why residents love Rome, Georgia

Rome offers the perfect balance of opportunity, affordability and recreation.

Residents enjoy:

  • An active downtown area with locally owned restaurants and coffee shops
  • Outdoor activities including hiking, kayaking, cycling and running
  • Community festivals, concerts and seasonal events
  • Easy access to Chattanooga, Atlanta and the North Georgia mountains
  • Affordable housing and a family-friendly atmosphere

Whether you're looking for outdoor adventure, cultural events or a relaxing place to call home, Rome has something for everyone.

Resident spotlight

"My coworkers have become some of my best friends, and we are encouraged by our program to experience all that Rome has to offer. We definitely take advantage of this opportunity and see each other as much as possible outside of the work environment."
